The master plan subcommittee reported it is awaiting two internal inputs before advancing a formal recommendation: (1) a legal opinion and (2) an internal parks-and-operations analysis that staff member Justin is preparing. The subcommittee chair said once those reports are completed the committee will prepare a report the full commission can consider, followed by any required public hearings and a formal commission vote prior to board-level action.
"We're waiting on an official legal opinion, the internal parks and rec team report, which Justin is working on," the subcommittee lead said, describing the steps that will be required before any disposition or recommendation is finalized.
Commissioners discussed the I-30 Crossing master plan, which was presented to the city Board of Directors recently. Leland said phase 0 exists and that he can provide the commission a shortened presentation of the materials shown to the board. Commissioners agreed the commission should review a concise overview at a future meeting (likely February) so members and the public can be better informed before any public hearings or votes.
The committee emphasized the intended sequence: committee review and synthesis; commission presentation and vote if the commission decides to move forward; public hearings; then a final commission recommendation to the board of directors.
