Alamogordo commission moves into executive session to discuss city manager hiring

The Alamogordo City Commission voted to adjourn into executive session Tuesday evening to consider limited personnel matters regarding the hiring of a city manager. The motion invoked the New Mexico statute permitting executive sessions for personnel matters (NMSA 10-15-1(H)(2)).

A motion to move into executive session was made and seconded; the roll call vote to take the meeting into executive session was recorded as affirmative. Commissioners stated on the record that no action would be taken when the body reconvened after the closed session.

By statute, discussions that occur in executive session related to personnel are confidential; the commission will comply with New Mexico Open Meetings Act requirements for any public action that might follow. The commission did not take a public vote on hiring at the time the body adjourned into closed session.
