The Goodland City Commission on March 18 approved a package of routine and capital items and took a formal position in support of a local housing developer’s tax-credit application.
Commissioners approved the consent agenda and then moved to several formal actions. The commission approved a recommendation to buy a park mower from American Implement and awarded a concrete materials bid for the Cherry Street project to M6 Concrete Accessories for $16,264.90. Commissioners also authorized staff to charge off long-uncollectible utility accounts under the city’s standard three-year policy.
On public-safety infrastructure, the commission approved a memorandum of understanding to host a 911 backup communications site at the Goodland Police Department. The motion was introduced and carried by roll call.
The commission also unanimously authorized the mayor to sign a letter of support for a KHITC tax-credit application by Golden Sunset Edition LLC — a time-sensitive request staff said arrived late in the agenda packet. Randy Speaker of the Northwest Kansas Economic Innovation Center and Jennifer House were identified as project contacts during the discussion.
