House Corrections Committee advances H.549 with DMV language left intact

The House Corrections & Institutions Committee on Feb. 25 voted to advance H.549 (Draft 4.1, the strike-all amendment), preserving the committee's language on non-driver identification cards and measures for issuing driver's licenses to people who are incarcerated. Committee leadership said the Senate Transportation committee had reported out a miscellaneous DMV bill that includes H.549's provisions without changing the committee's language, and members moved to vote the bill out favorably.

Chair (identified in the transcript as Speaker 1) moved the committee to adopt Draft 4.1 and called for a second, after which members recorded their votes by roll call/voice. The chair asked staff to prepare the committee report, include Draft 4.1, and send the materials and vote record to the clerk and the court's office.
