Ohio County Fiscal Court approves sheriff’s 2025 final and 2026 estimated budgets

The Ohio County Fiscal Court approved the sheriff’s final 2025 budget and separately approved the sheriff’s estimated budget for 2026 during its regular meeting.

Judge executive David Johnston read agenda items and called for motions on both budget documents. Michael McKinney moved to approve the 2025 final sheriff’s budget; Beau Bennett seconded and the court carried the motion by voice vote. Later, a motion to approve the 2026 estimated sheriff’s budget was made (mover recorded as Dale Bevin) and seconded by Michael McKinney; the court again approved the motion by voice vote.

The action was procedural and taken by voice; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript. The judge executive also noted the county court recording update is moving forward and directed staff to coordinate implementation details related to administration of the budgets.

David Johnston, Ohio County judge executive, opened discussion but the transcript records no substantive amendment or conditions attached to either budget approval. The court treated both items as separate documents (the 2025 final and the 2026 estimated) and voted on them individually.

The court scheduled follow-up administrative tasks to ensure the budgets and recording updates are implemented. The meeting adjourned with the next session set for March 10, when the state highway department will give an update on Highway 1903.
