Lebanon City Schools’ board voted May 20 to approve a tentative agreement with the district’s transportation employees (described in meeting as mechanics, aides, school bus drivers and associated secretaries) covering July 2024 through June 30, 2027.
"This is negotiated agreement with our transportation employees...it allows us to be competitive in the market in terms of salaries to be able to attract them," Isaac said, thanking human resources and the negotiating team for working through difficult issues. The board approved the tentative agreement by roll call.
The superintendent said the district included the negotiated costs in the five-year forecast. He described the deal as intended to help the district compete for drivers and other transportation staff amid a regional shortage and to improve operational efficiency.
Next steps: the district will finalize contract language and complete any required administrative steps to implement the agreement as negotiated and reflected in the forecast.
