The Chilton County Commission approved a set of resolutions to remove parcel 1906140000011 from the surplus property list, officially designate the parcel as a county park called Overlook Park, accept it into the Chilton County Park System and begin development.
Commissioner Jill Perkins introduced the actions and explicitly referenced parcel number 1906140000011. “I request a resolution to remove parcel number 1906140000011…commonly referred to as Overlook Park, from the surplus property list,” Perkins said, and later moved to designate and accept the parcel into the county park system.
Commissioners voted to adopt the resolutions and to authorize beginning development; the meeting record shows the motion passed with six votes in favor and one opposed (Commissioner Headley). Perkins then moved a separate resolution authorizing the start of park development, which passed by the same margin.
What’s next: With the designation and development authorization approved, staff or assigned departments are expected to follow up on park development planning and implementation steps; the commission did not specify a development timeline or budget in the meeting record.
