The Chilton County Commission approved a package of routine and administrative items during its meeting.
The consent agenda passed unanimously and included the minutes of Feb. 10, the claims list for Feb. 24, a resolution to reappoint Chase Ellis to the sheriff’s office roll, purchases of computers and servers for the new courthouse, authorization for security awareness training, and a request to set the courthouse dedication for June 29, 2026, at 10 a.m.
Commissioner Billingsley moved that the county attorney prepare bylaws for the Children’s Emergency Medical Response Authority; the motion passed (recorded as 5–2). The commission also opened nominations for a vacancy on the sheriff’s merit board; James Fancher was nominated and at least one additional potential nominee was pending follow-up.
The commission approved invoices for Manuka and Manuka Park and approved invoices from Thompson Tractor; the record notes one abstention for an invoice item (Commissioner Childress) while other consent items were recorded as unanimous.
The commission adopted a courthouse key-card access-control policy for employees of the new courthouse; the chair emphasized the policy applies to courthouse employees and that key cards would be issued to those staff.
What’s next: The staff will follow up on nominations and bylaws drafting and will implement the courthouse IT and security items per the approved consent agenda; specific budgets or implementation timelines were not detailed in the meeting record.
