Skagit Friendship House director introduces himself, marks 40th year serving Mount Vernon

Jason Wells, the newly appointed director of Skagit Friendship House, introduced himself to the Mount Vernon City Council on Feb. 25 and announced the organization’s 40th anniversary serving Mount Vernon on March 12.

Wells, who said he resides in Anacortes and started in the role within the last three weeks, described Friendship House as a local shelter and support organization that provides “basic shelter, services, and supportive structures to help folks be successful.” He offered to meet one‑on‑one with council members or staff to discuss needs or improvements and thanked the council for its partnership.

Council members and the mayor greeted Wells and thanked him for attending. No formal council action was recorded on the topic during the meeting.
