Novi sets May 1 enrollment target, outlines bus rules and CARE program registration

Novi Community School District told families it will encourage most kindergarten registrations to be completed by May 1 so staff can plan classes and staffing for next fall. "So we are putting a May 1 deadline to just ensure that we have the right space for your student at our school," a district presenter said.

What families need: presenters listed required enrollment documents (birth certificate, immunization records, vision/hearing screening, and two proofs of residency such as a gas or electric bill). Families planning to move into the district were instructed to submit enrollment forms early and provide lease or closing documents when available so central enrollment can queue the student.

Transportation and bus registration: the district described a one‑mile walk zone—students living within one mile are ineligible for bus service; students living beyond one mile may ride the bus but must register in the parent portal under Forms → Transportation to reserve a spot. Staff advised signing up even if parents plan to decide later, because spots can be held and canceled if a family later chooses not to use them.

CARE (before/after‑school) program: Novi said CARE sites are located in each elementary and the 5/6 building, open 6:45 a.m.–6:00 p.m., and registration for CARE opens Aug. 1–15. Families must register for CARE and specify monthly days of attendance; registration does not automatically hold recurring days without selecting dates.
