A Senate committee on Monday gave a favorable report to House Bill 182, which its sponsor said would let members of the armed forces transfer military credits toward civilian professional or occupational licensure after they retire.
"HB 182 is a bill dealing with our men and women in military," Representative Marsh, the bill sponsor, said during the committee meeting, adding that the measure "allows them ... to transfer their credits to their professional or occupational" licensure outside of military service. The committee recorded 9 ayes and no nays on the motion to report the bill favorably.
The vote was moved by Senator Carnley and seconded by Senator Orr. Committee members present during the roll call included Senators Albritton, Allen, Bell, Coleman, Coleman Madison, Elliott, Kelly, Orr, Roberts, Stewart and Butler.
The committee report advances the bill for further consideration by the full chamber. The transcript does not specify any amendments or an exact next hearing date for HB 182.
