Lampasas to buy Hubert screw press under $1M EPA-funded solids-handling project

City staff told the council the city was awarded a $1,000,000 Environmental Protection Agency grant to replace an aging solids-handling unit at the treatment plant. During procurement staff sought multiple technology options (belt press, screw press, centrifuge) but received only two responsive bids. After evaluation, staff recommended awarding a Hubert screw press as the technology that best fits staffing and long-term operations.

A staff representative said the screw press offered the most practical solution for current staffing and long-term maintenance and recommended awarding the contract to Hubert Technology Inc. for $516,505. Staff said the existing unit is approaching 30 years of service and the replacement is expected to have a 20–30 year useful life if maintained.
