Rules committee advances a large package of bills in a mass motion

Vice Chair moved a mass motion listing a large set of House Bills and concurrent resolutions (long list read at SEG 622–656). Tim Fleming told the committee he had reviewed those measures and that, in his opinion, they are constitutional and in proper form (SEG 669–672). The roll call recorded 6 ayes, 0 nays and 2 absent and the committee recommended the measures in the mass motion as constitutional and in proper form.

Why it matters: The mass motion advanced a broad swath of legislation through the Rules Committee in a single action; individual bills moved in the mass list will proceed to the next steps in the legislative process.

Next steps: Bills included in the mass motion will be scheduled for further floor consideration as appropriate.
