Several residents used the public‑comment period on Feb. 23 to raise concerns tied to projects discussed earlier in the meeting.
Mary Shones, who began by congratulating the Harper family on the honorary naming, said she researched CoreWeave after the mayor mentioned the company. She stated that CoreWeave has an S&P Global rating of B+, which she said is below investment grade and indicates financial risk. She also warned of potential environmental and utility consequences, saying, “in return, we would get poison water, higher electric bills, and most of those jobs go away after initial construction is done.” Shones urged the council to consider alternative uses of tax revenue, such as funding for local schools.
Ken Rosick spoke about a proposed bridge off Parrish in Hessville that he said will not create a quiet zone and will instead increase noise and traffic for multiple crossings. He urged the council to consider installing proper gates on the six crossings rather than pursuing bridge construction that he said would require clearing yards and natural areas.
Council members did not take votes on the specific concerns during the meeting; the public comments were entered into the record for council and staff consideration.
