Board approves county letter backing Fredonia trail grant

County staff and supervisors discussed a draft letter of support for a Sierra Nevada Conservancy grant to construct the Fredonia trail system. Staff said the county would be the primary stakeholder for construction management under a cooperative agreement, and Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship would serve as grant applicant.

Supervisors recommended adding support from the Fire Safe Council to the letter. The board moved, seconded and voted in favor of sending the letter of support and continuing coordination with partner organizations.

Staff said the grant window is competitive and the application was planned for submission at the end of the week; the county will provide letters and coordination by the stated deadline.
