The Central Florida Fair reopened this week at the Central Florida Fairgrounds with expanded entertainment, themed evenings and a mix of traditional agricultural exhibits and novelty attractions, organizers said.
"We had a great opening night last night," said Michael Tipton, president and CEO of the Central Florida Fair, describing early attendance and enthusiasm for the fair. Tipton highlighted new attractions including a stage for a Battle of the Bands, a Bazaar Boulevard sideshow area, live frisbee-dog demonstrations, BMX riders and transforming “robo” cars.
The fair also features novelty food offerings and family-focused programming such as livestock shows and youth educational projects. Tipton described themed nights and free concerts, including a "Stars and Stripes" night that grants military first responders free admission and a free concert.
Organizers are promoting nostalgic elements as well: Tipton said the fair has added a Blockbuster pop-up that sells memberships and branded merchandise, presented to evoke the 1990s video-rental experience.
The program listed the fair as running 11 days through March 10 (the hosts and guests cited the schedule during the broadcast) and directed listeners to centralfloridafair.com for hours and tickets. In the on-air exchange Tipton also referred to the fair’s long history, noting what he called its "hundred and twelfth year," though the program later cites a different anniversary number in another segment; organizers on the program did not provide a single, definitive edition number.
Tipton gave attendance aims during the interview, saying recent figures have been 'around the 200' and that he hopes to 'hit 250' this year; the broadcast did not specify the unit (hundreds, thousands) associated with those figures.
The fair combines traditional agricultural exhibitions that highlight youth livestock projects with new entertainment, and organizers encouraged attendees to plan visits around nightly programming for different audiences.
