Orange County Parks schedules spring events and seeks seasonal staff, including lifeguards

Mandy Kemmer of Orange County Parks outlined a slate of spring and early-summer events and said the department is recruiting seasonal staff.

"Youth ages 16 and up, are needed for both lifeguard jobs at $16.88 an hour or to work with the summer camp kids, which is $16.08 per hour," Kemmer said on the program, noting wages above the county minimum and providing ocfl.net/jobs as the application portal.

Kemmer promoted the fourteenth annual Mayor's Jazz in the Park (a long-running free concert series at Cypress Grove Park), a bluegrass event scheduled for April 11 at Fort Christmas Historical Park, a monthly Barnyard Banner archaeology program on March 21, and a Senior "Fish for Fun" session restarting at the Renaissance Senior Center on March 17. She also noted that pavilion reservations now require 30 days' notice, and that popular facilities may need bookings three to four months in advance.

The parks representative emphasized volunteer and staffing needs ahead of summer and highlighted that some programs are free or designed for older adults and family audiences. Kemmer encouraged residents to register for events and apply for seasonal positions at ocfl.net/jobs.
