Mona City Council approved the city’s finance reports, discussed minor staffing and procurement updates, and heard community and staff briefings on upcoming grant deadlines and a community grant award.
Finance director Linda presented the finance paperwork and said she highlights expenditures over $5,000 for council review. Linda said the city will add the newly seated council member Alicia to the purchasing card so Alicia can track her department’s spending and will remove Miller from card privileges. The council then moved and approved the finance packet by voice vote.
R6 Community Advisor Shay Morrison told the council about a free regional training in Richfield on May 6 and said registration is open; Shay also warned that SLFRF/ARPA closeout reporting may be coming for older awards and advised staff to check grant status. "To be on the CIB list is May 1," Shay said, explaining that the Permanent Community Impact Board’s annual list determines eligibility for grants and loans for infrastructure projects and must be entered through the Utah project portal.
Council members and staff discussed locating prior project lists and uploading projects to the project portal so Mona can be eligible for water, roads and sewer funding. Council member Michelle announced plans to buy 12 soft chairs (approximate total $775) for municipal spaces and proposed holding spring cleanup over one or two weekends in late April/early May with dumpsters provided.
During public comment, a resident identified as Troy said Mona received a $1,500 America250 grant to support event advertising and noted that expenditures must include America250 branding. Dave Fletcher used the public-comment period to introduce himself as a candidate for county commissioner and outlined priorities including law enforcement support and fiscal restraint.
The council adjourned after taking the routine votes.
