Community Partners for Affordable Housing presented an update to the Tualatin City Council on Feb. 9, saying Planbeck Gardens is now fully leased and that on-site services are focused on housing stability and youth programming.
"We have fully leased up Planbeck with 116 families calling it home," said Catherine Moore, director of programs at Community Partners for Affordable Housing. She said the development houses just under 300 residents and that more than 100 are children under 18. "We provide the services in those buildings to support housing stability," she added.
Julie Luna Dominguez, resident services coordinator at Planbeck Gardens, described a year of activities aimed at youth and family connection: PlayFitFun sessions, a Halloween event attended by about 100 residents, and regular youth events that include meals, games and community-building. Parents and on-site staff have helped run events; Dominguez said residents are planning a field trip (candidates include a zoo visit or kayaking) and that organizers will arrange consent forms, transportation and volunteer support if the trip proceeds.
Moore highlighted partnerships bringing services to the property: Sherwood School District has supported back-to-school drives, a Neighborhood Health Center is scheduled to run a mobile dental clinic for children, and nearby Horizon Church provides on-site youth programming and other supports.
Councilors asked about volunteer opportunities and transportation access. Dominguez said she has worked to involve youth in small volunteer tasks and event planning; on transit needs she said, "I did submit a request to Bridal Connection. I'm hoping they have availability and funding to support a shuttle either once or twice a month specifically for our senior and disabled residents." City staff and councilors noted transportation remains a barrier and underscored opportunities to coordinate with TriMet and local nonprofits.
Community Partners also invited councilors and local organizations to a community services networking event co-hosted with Just Compassion on May 7. Moore and Dominguez said they will continue hosting resource fairs and data parties to connect residents with health, behavioral health and employment supports.
What happens next: staff encouraged continued coordination between Planbeck Gardens staff, city transportation planners, TriMet and local service providers to explore shuttle options and to support upcoming resource events. City council members thanked the presenters for the update and expressed interest in ongoing collaboration.
