Rhinebeck Town Board approves routine motions, bundles accounts payable and moves to study tourism capacity

The Rhinebeck Town Board on Feb. 23 approved a series of routine motions and administrative items, most by unanimous vote, and signaled it will pursue a planning study of tourism capacity in light of multiple hospitality projects proposed near town.

Among the motions approved without recorded opposition were:

- 2026-O-85 (Landscont Trail Association): approved unanimously to support the trail association.

- 2026-O-86 (Cemetery temporary employee): approved unanimously to authorize a seasonal cemetery employee (April'October, six months).

- 2026-O-87 (Tree care contract): approved unanimously; board noted choosing a local company even if slightly more costly.

- 2026-O-88 (Salary arrangement for Jennifer Lund): approved unanimously to allow flexible coverage by the part-time assessor.

- 2026-O-89 (Agreement for Verizon to investigate town-owned property): approved unanimously; town attorney emphasized indemnification for the town during Verizon visits.

- 2026-O-90 (Peddlers/solicitors permit): approved unanimously; discussion covered legal limits on banning solicitors and the logistics of a "do not solicit" list.

- 2026-O-91 (Transfer-station mini-bid for trash hauler): approved unanimously to seek competitive bids.

- 2026-O-92 (Sale of Marathon cardboard compactor): approved unanimously.

- 2026-O-93 (Recreation park grounds contract renewal): approved unanimously for three natural fertilizer applications during the growing season.

- 2026-O-94 (Volleyball program refunds): approved unanimously to refund participants after insufficient enrollment.

- 2026-O-95 (Purchase of turf blue bleachers): approved unanimously; funding sources were referenced as sufficient.

- 2026-O-96 (Reaffirm investment policy): approved unanimously; board noted no policy changes.

- 2026-O-97 (Authorize application for records-management grant): approved unanimously to allow staff to apply for a records grant to create temporary holdings pending a maintenance garage project.

- 2026-O-98 (Highway department material bids): approved unanimously.

- Bundled approvals (2026-O-99, 12026-101, 12026-102): preliminary and ordinary accounts-payable abstracts and capital-project abstracts, plus budget-transfer amendments, were bundled and approved unanimously.
