The Tehama County Transit Agency Board on Feb. 23 approved $259,184.87 in claims for January and waived the reading of the Jan. 26 minutes, the board’s recorded proceedings show.
Board member (Speaker 2) moved to waive the reading and approve the Jan. 26 minutes. When Chair (Speaker 1) asked for a second, Speaker 2 said, “I’ll second it,” and the chair called the vote; the motion carried.
On the claims item, Chair (Speaker 1) announced a claims total of $259,184.87 and Speaker 2 moved to approve the claims. During discussion, Board member (Speaker 3) raised a funding concern about hazard COVID pay, asking, “I just question regarding the hazard COVID pay… that was something I was concerned about seeing that, appear before that once that money ran out that we would, in perpetuity, be responsible for it.”
An unidentified speaker (Speaker 4) responded with a funding clarification: “So I think those timed out and they will be exhausted. So those will be rolled into LTF until the end of the contract and the contracts ending in June.” The board then voted on the claims approval motion; members voiced their support and the chair declared the motion passed.
The discussion recorded in the transcript indicates the hazard COVID pay line item was a topic of concern but that staff advised the payments will be covered by Local Transportation Funds (LTF) through the end of the current contracts in June. The board did not take separate formal action to change pay policy at the meeting; the item was handled as part of the claims approval.
Chair (Speaker 1) closed the meeting, solicited items for future agendas, and adjourned at 09:08.
