Council adopts rezoning ordinance for 1.22 acres at 800 Beach Grove Road over one ‘no’ vote

The Shepherdsville City Council adopted Ordinance 026003 on second reading to rezone roughly 1.22 acres at 800 Beach Grove Road (Parcel 037C0001001) from R-1 to R-3.

City attorney Catherine read the ordinance summary, saying the Bullitt County Joint Planning Commission held a public hearing Jan. 8 (docket 2026Z-04) and recommended the change. Council discussed traffic and potential water impacts; one councilmember cited density concerns about a proposed 13-townhome development.

Councilmember Jennifer explained her no vote: “I don’t think 13 townhomes is appropriate. I think it crowds that area on a corner lot.” Councilmember Faith said she supported the rezoning and explained her vote was guided by the comprehensive plan and her own site visits. The mayor stated the final result as a 3-to-1 vote in favor and the ordinance was adopted.

The ordinance’s text references conditions and restrictions listed in the planning commission docket; staff said those restrictions and the docket will be part of the public record. Council directed staff to ensure residents and parties have access to the related planning documents and traffic study materials.
