The village recommended awarding its 2023 Street Resurfacing program to Arrow Road Construction with a low bid of $3,033,822 and approved a supplemental contract for $415,000 to resurface roughly an additional 1.5 miles, the Infrastructure and Environment Committee reported Tuesday.
Mister Barry, presenting the bid results, said the low bid was approximately $580,000 under the budgeted amount and will deliver nearly eight miles of resurfacing under the primary contract. Using savings from the primary award, staff recommended a supplemental contract at the same unit prices to add about 11 additional streets (about 1.5 miles), increasing the program’s total resurfaced mileage.
Barry said the village anticipated material-cost increases but saw competitive pricing by soliciting bids early. "The low bid is Arrow Road Construction... we're recommending award of contract for $3,033,822, which is about $580,000 less than what we had budgeted for this program, getting nearly 8 miles of street done," he told the committee.
The committee approved sending both the primary and supplemental awards to the consent agenda; both items were included in the council’s final consent vote and approved.
