Palatine committee advances special use and liquor license for restaurant at 1280 East Dundee Road with six‑month monitor on live entertainment

The Village of Palatine's Police Policy & Code Services Committee moved a petition by Gavi LLC to the council consent calendar after staff recommended approval of a restaurant at 1280 East Dundee Road with an associated liquor license and a limited live‑entertainment program.

Staff said the tenant space comprises roughly 10,000 square feet on the upper level and another 10,000 square feet on the lower level (lower-level space proposed for storage). The petitioner plans a small stage area of roughly 72 square feet and a retail component to sell packaged foods and other items. Staff recommended that live entertainment be monitored for six months after opening; council members discussed allowing a small number of live events administratively during that period so police and staff can evaluate impacts.

Petitioner Oleg Gurievich told the committee the venue expects strong demand for special‑event entertainment (holidays and celebrations) and said private security will be provided for large events; he also said staff will coordinate with the local police when events are held. Council and staff discussed that final approval language could permit the initial operation of live entertainment while reserving the councilthe right to suspend or require council review if issues arise.

The committee approved the item and placed it on the council consent agenda with the staff conditions discussed.
