The Town Council voted to award a contract to Roe Construction, a division of United Contractors Midwest Inc., for intersection improvements at Fort Jesse Road and Landmark Drive and at Fort Jesse Road and Greenbrier Drive in the amount of $2,150,445.93, with an associated budget adjustment.
Public works staff member Mister Otto described the project as the installation of traffic signals at both intersections, noting a standard 4-way signal at Greenbrier and a 3-way T-intersection at Landmark. He explained the complexity lies in coordination with nearby Veterans Parkway and with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). The Greenbrier location also will see replacement and lengthening of a box culvert and an expanded turning radius to reduce truck encroachment on sidewalks and improve pedestrian access.
Council members asked whether lane configurations would change and about the single bid received; staff said the project will generally maintain existing lanes and that market timing and multiple concurrent bids likely affected the number of bidders. The contract award passed by roll call.
