Chief Betts said the Lebanon Fire Department responded to 165 emergency calls for service since the prior board meeting and logged 494 training hours.
He told the board the department installed and inspected four car seats, completed 62 commercial inspections and participated in one technical advisory committee meeting. The Merit Commission met on Monday, Feb. 16, to interview four candidates; two advanced in the hiring process, Betts said.
Betts said the department will have three new recruits ready for the Northside Fire Academy beginning April 6. He also said Mayor Gentry will swear in two recruits, Jimmy Meitens and Elliot Young, during the council meeting that night.
No formal action or vote was taken by the board on the report. The chief concluded his remarks after taking no questions from board members or the public.
