Spanish Fort council approves resolution authorizing temporary administrative hire

Mister Connor presented Resolution No. 1581-2026, which would authorize the mayor to appoint a provisional temporary employee (an unclassified, at-will position at pay grade 1) to assist in administrative offices while the city recruits a permanent city clerk.

Council moved and seconded to adopt the resolution. During roll call, council members voted in the affirmative and the mayor declared the motion adopted.

Connor said the position is intended to provide short-term administrative support for the mayor and assistant city clerk while the permanent city clerk and other administrative positions are filled. The resolution places the temporary hire at pay grade 1 under the city's pay classification guidelines.

Next steps: the resolution is adopted and the mayor may proceed with appointment under the authority granted by the resolution.
