Florissant city leaders and chamber representatives gathered for a ribbon-cutting Tuesday to mark the opening of The Sweet Spot at 2575 North Highway 67.
Mayor (unnamed) welcomed the new business and thanked residents and chamber members for attending, saying the store has already been “a big hit” with customers. "I believe this is your third location in the Saint Louis area," the mayor said, and thanked Dave Otto for his role in recruiting the business to Florissant.
Jamie of the Greater North County Chamber presented the owner with a plaque and told the crowd, "Mario and your whole team, welcome to Florissant. We're so excited to have you here." Jamie said the owner chose Florissant over other possible locations.
Owner Mario thanked attendees and the staff who helped open the store, saying, "This took a lot of work, a lot of time," and, "Couldn't do this without you guys." Chamber members, ambassadors and city representatives attended the ceremony; the mayor also noted the presence of Paul Maganelli, Council Member, Ward 2; Chief Fagan; Patrick Mulcahy; and Steve Kennison.
Attendees described the store's offerings — donuts, breakfast, lunch and ice cream — as contributors to its early popularity. The mayor led the assembled group in the ceremonial ribbon cutting: "1, 2, 3." The Sweet Spot is now open at the stated address.
No formal votes or city actions were taken at the ceremony.
