School staff presented graduation data to the Silver Falls School District board Feb. 9 showing the district above statewide averages and described efforts to support students who are off track.
Miss Jorgensen presented statewide and local rates, saying statewide graduation is about 83 percent and Silverton High School’s four‑year completer rate is "almost 94 percent." She credited counseling, the ninth‑grade on‑track team, monthly attendance reviews and targeted interventions such as six‑week attendance contracts and credit‑recovery options. "Our ninth grade on track team is meeting once a month," she said, describing cross‑team work to monitor attendance, grades and behavior.
Administrators described systems designed to reengage students: a Student Support Team "workshop" where all key players review individual students; credit‑recovery options during summer; and partnership work with Sequoia to bring students back into coursework. The presenter noted the district’s dropout rate is about 0.71 percent and said staff continue to track students using ODE SSID and records‑request processes to confirm whether students transfer to other districts or programs.
Board members asked for definitions and data clarifications. Administrators explained that on‑track status is based on credits at the end of freshman year (roughly six credits, including English and math in state reporting) and said staff will circulate comparative reports when asked. No action was taken; the presentation was informational.
