The Lee's Summit Budget Committee on Jan. 5 recommended two ordinance actions to the full City Council.
TMP-3557: Donna Lake, assistant city manager, described the city's annual agreement with the Jackson County Board of Election Commissioners to use three community centers as polling locations (Lovell Community Center, Longview Community Center and the Gamber Center). The committee voted to send the ordinance approving the 2026 polling contracts to full council for consideration. The presentation noted a nominal fee paid to Parks to host the polls.
TMP-3559: Deputy Chief John Bunker presented change order number 4 to the joint operations center migration agreement with Motorola Solutions Inc. The change order includes a one-time increase in system infrastructure costs of $2,824,533, plus additional annual lifecycle maintenance costs of $317,490 and cybersecurity costs of $96,240 over six years. Bunker said recent state funding would cover the change order. The committee voted to recommend the ordinance to full council.
Votes and outcome: In each case the committee recorded aye votes from the members present and moved both items to the full council for final action. No member recorded a nay vote in committee. The committee did not take final ordinance action; both items will next appear on the full City Council agenda.
