Santa Ana attendee outlines project to create support groups for people impacted by homicide

Veronica Gomez, a Zoom participant and longtime meeting attendee, told the Santa Ana Arts and Culture Commission on Feb. 19 that she is working on a new project to create support groups for people in Orange County who have been impacted by homicide.

Gomez said she has participated in commission meetings for about three years and that she hopes to share more information with commissioners: "I have been participating in the meetings for, I think, the last 3 years, and I am working in a new project to have, support groups for people in Orange County that have been impacted by homicide," she said during the public comment period.

Why it matters: Support groups for homicide survivors and impacted families address long-term community needs for bereavement, counseling, and peer support. Gomez told the commission she will send information about the project and expressed a desire to work with the commission on outreach or related programming.
