North Attleborough School Committee ratifies NAFT memorandum of understanding

The North Attleborough School Committee voted to ratify the NAFT memorandum of understanding in a virtual session on Nov. 24, 2025, Chair Tasha Bussell said, with the motion passing five to zero and one abstention; one member was absent.

Committee member John summarized the agreement as a three-year contract that includes cost-of-living adjustments of 3 percent, 2.75 percent and 2.5 percent in each year, an increase in longevity payments of $100 per year of service and a newly structured pay classification for athletic coaches and co‑curricular advisors. "This is a 3 year agreement," John said, adding that the measures were intended to make coach pay more equitable and to add money to the salary pool.

Bob, who logged in to speak in support, told members the union ratification was strong: "The measure passed 86% with the teachers," he said, and offered the union's willingness to partner with the district moving forward. Chair Tasha Bussell said the settlement addressed outstanding issues and praised the outcome as benefitting teachers' quality of life: "It's all about quality of life," she said.

Among the practical changes John described, the committee highlighted a new tiered system so coaches in comparable roles receive the same base pay (with adjustments for longer or shorter seasons, such as football or golf) and a provision allowing teachers to use up to 20 days of accumulated sick time for family sick leave. John recommended ratification on those grounds.

During roll call, votes recorded on the record included yes votes from Carrie Orsi, Colleen Andrus, Lindsey Ben Harris, Sarah Stone and Chair Tasha Bussell. One member asked whether they needed to abstain because two family members could benefit financially; the chair announced the final tally as five yes, zero no, one abstention and one absence (Charlie was not present). The transcript did not explicitly name which member was recorded as the abstention during the roll call.

The committee congratulated negotiators and members after the vote. The MOU had been provided to the committee from Dr. Antonucci on Nov. 21, according to the record; ratification finalizes the district's acceptance of the agreement and authorizes implementation under the terms described at the session.
