Commission approves AMC 20.46 design amendment, staff to correct draft formatting

The Arlington Planning Commission recommended City Council approve AMC 20.46, a zoning-code amendment focused on design standards and removal of now-obsolete references to the design review board.

Community and Economic Development staff said many of the apparent large changes in the draft were deletions of material covered elsewhere in the code or standards, and that the amendment reflects the earlier removal of the design review board from Title 2. Commissioners pointed out formatting and track-changes anomalies in the presented document — notably a line where the word “no” appeared with a strike-through in the workshop copy but reappeared in the current draft. Staff acknowledged the problem and said they would reformat the document and, if necessary, recreate the file to preserve intended deletions.

Commissioner Drew Bono moved to approve AMC 20.46 with the understanding the stray 'no' wording would be fixed; a second was given, the motion passed and the Chair closed the public hearing. Staff said they would place the corrected final draft into the record before it advances to City Council.
