Melina Castillo told the Pennsauken Township Committee that her husband’s business, Felix Produce Market, plans to expand to 4747 Westfield Avenue in Pennsauken while keeping its Camden location at 3336 Federal Street open.
"We are interested in the expansion of the store," Castillo said, describing a family-run operation that began as a produce market in 2024, now operating as a grocery store offering fruits, vegetables and household essentials. She said the proposed Pennsauken location would operate seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and employ four people.
Committee members asked how the new location would differ from nearby stores, how many parking spaces would be available, and how deliveries would be handled. Castillo said a customer parking lot on site could accommodate roughly six to seven vehicles and that her husband would operate a company-owned delivery truck and follow local loading and trash procedures.
Economic development representative Shakir Ali told the committee that planning- or zoning-board appearances may be required depending on requested variances and that staff would help the applicants through next steps.
Deputy Mayor Martinez, Committeewoman Grama and other members welcomed the business and encouraged the owners to keep the site clean and organized. No formal action was taken; the presentation served as an informational, pre-application step.
