Committee advances several bills and recommends two gubernatorial confirmations in executive session

In executive session Feb. 20 the Senate Housing Committee recommended confirmation of two gubernatorial appointments and moved multiple bills forward to the Rules Committee with due‑pass recommendations.

A motion was made and carried to report gubernatorial appointment #9280 (Aaron T. McGrath) with a recommendation that the appointment be confirmed, subject to the usual signatures. The committee likewise moved to report appointment #9281 (Anne T. Malone) with a confirmation recommendation.

The committee then considered three bills in executive session. A motion was made and voted to give Engrossed House Bill 16‑87 a due‑pass recommendation and forward it to the Rules Committee; staff had summarized the bill as authorizing state or local assistance to social housing public development authorities under the Housing Cooperation Law and noted a fiscal note. The committee similarly voted to forward Substitute House Bill 22‑69 (middle housing and sanitary sewer requirements for certain areas) and House Bill 2304 (expand express warranty and warranty insurance for certain condominiums) with due‑pass recommendations. Senator Gaynor voiced concern about rural middle‑housing sewer requirements but supported advancing the bill.

Committee members recorded ayes and no recorded roll‑call opposition during the open statements read in executive session; chair announced each bill as passed "subject to signatures."
