House members on Feb. 19 formally welcomed leaders of EchoPark Speedway and NASCAR driver Ross Chastain as part of a special invited resolution recognizing the track’s economic role in Hampton and the region.
Representative Robert Flournoy introduced EchoPark Speedway’s executive team and said the track generates “over 200 plus million dollars” in regional economic impact. Brandon Hutchison, EchoPark’s executive vice president and general manager, and other executives were acknowledged in the chamber.
Ross Chastain spoke briefly about the venue’s name change from Atlanta Motor Speedway to EchoPark Speedway and his family connections to agriculture. “We did recently go through a name change from Atlanta Motor Speedway. It was always incorrectly named because it was in Hampton the whole time,” Chastain said.
Lawmakers invited the speedway delegation and Chastain to meet members in the South Ante Room after the remarks. The recognition was presented as a special resolution during morning orders ahead of race-week events including the AutoTrader 400.
