Electric violinist Mark Wood worked with students from Beaufort Middle, Beaufort High, Bluffton High and other area schools for rehearsals and a high-energy rock concert, county media reported.
Students described the collaboration as encouraging and musically enriching. One student (identified in the transcript as S2) said, "It's been great working with him. It's a lot of encouragement and new music that I haven't experienced, and it's great playing it." Another student (S3) described being able to practice difficult passages: "...if we don't understand, we can always just, like, redo it and we'll work on it."
Students also spoke about the broader musical benefits. One (S4) said Mr. Wood reminded them that string instruments are not confined to classical genres and can be "very diverse." Another (S5) described the purpose of performing as connecting "performer to the audience" and emphasized that the goal is for performers to "exude joy, passion, emotion so that the audience feels something from us."
The county said a full video of the performance is available on its YouTube channel. The bulletin directed viewers to the county’s online news page for additional multimedia and encouraged subscribing to the county channel for updates.
