The Cypress School District Board of Trustees approved a package of action items Feb. 8, including contracts, construction approvals and agreements to support district operations.
Key votes and approvals included:
- Ratification of a revised memorandum of understanding with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Anaheim Cypress for the district's expanded learning opportunities program (ELOP) at six sites through June 30, 2024, at an additional cost not to exceed $200,000 (approved by voice vote).
- Approval to file a notice of completion for the 2023 districtwide multipurpose-room audiovisual system project installed by ICS Services Inc., at a total cost of $272,171.09 (approved by voice vote).
- Approval of a contract with MP South Inc. for site work and fabrication of a shade structure at Luther School under the district's unit-price agreement at a total cost of $108,882.50; trustees noted that the funds come from Fund 40 and not the general fund (approved by voice vote).
- Approval to contract with Waxie Enterprises LLC for janitorial supplies and equipment under a CMAS contract (contract number cited in the agenda) through June 30, 2024 (approved by voice vote).
- Approval of an agreement with Food Finders Inc. for edible food-recovery services to collect unused but safe food from district kitchens for community distribution; Dr. Tim McClellan said Food Finders is a local partner based in Los Alamitos and the contract may be terminated if performance standards are not met (approved by voice vote).
Other actions: the board adopted a preliminary resolution (23-24-8) to reduce particular kinds of classified services for lack of work or lack of funds related to preschool-calendar changes, approved job-description classification and salary adjustments for several preschool and early-learning positions, adopted routine policy updates effective Feb. 8, and approved a monthly stipend payment resolution for a trustee for missed meetings.
Votes at a glance: most items were approved by unanimous voice vote among trustees present; one trustee (President Nakamura) was noted absent during the meeting. For the minutes approval earlier in the agenda a clerk abstention was recorded.
Implementation: several approvals include implementation steps: filing a notice of completion for the AV system; contracting timelines for shade structure site work; and the immediate rollout of the Food Finders partnership from the district's central kitchen.
