VeggieRx, climate health promoters training aims to expand outreach and recruit partners for Earth Day

Bailey Ward (VeggieRx project manager, UrbanTilt) and David McMullen (community health promoter) presented the VeggieRx project and the climate health promoters training. They said the program provides a 26-hour in-person curriculum, community project work and final group presentations, and that the next cohort begins in March.

The presenters reviewed recruitment outcomes: an initial spring 2024 cohort recruited 44, registered 35 and graduated 31; a 2025 Spanish cohort recruited 50, registered 47 and graduated 30. The program’s goal is to train 300 residents connected to the project area over the project’s timeline. Staff asked partner organizations to request support for Earth Day events; the team plans to have about 30 promoters supporting the event.
