District facilities staff described a pipe burst at the middle school that occurred overnight and produced heavy steam and temporary disruption for a small special-education class.
"We had all the environmental studies done, and everything came back good," said the facilities staff member (identified in the transcript as S12), noting there was no persistent moisture and that an industrial dehumidifier returned humidity to safe levels overnight. S12 said the school moved the small special-education class temporarily to the first floor and that crews would repair and replace VCT flooring and assess subfloors in-house.
Board members praised the rapid response. S2 said the adjuster visited quickly and S12 confirmed the district filed the claim the night of the incident and the adjuster and environmental company responded the next day.
S12 listed the primary damaged items as floor coverings, a small amount of furniture and some classroom supplies; the facilities speaker said the district intended to pursue insurance reimbursement for damages outside the deductible. S2 and S12 said they do not currently expect claim denials but will await final paperwork.
The district thanked staff for the quick response and said they will continue to monitor conditions and complete repairs so the classroom can return to normal use.
