The County Executive used the State of the County address to outline recent public-safety and infrastructure investments, citing grant-funded purchases and capital improvements intended to strengthen emergency response and county operations.
On public safety, the County Executive said the sheriff’s office "managed approximately $5,000,000 in grant funding," which funded items including a new EMS facility, a mobile command vehicle, new patrol vehicles and upgraded radio equipment. "The new EMS facility will serve as the home base for our EMS division, improving response times," the County Executive said.
The address also noted that the county’s 9-1-1 communications division achieved accreditation in 2025; the County Executive described the designation as evidence that the division met professional service standards.
Turning to infrastructure, the County Executive said Montgomery County invested approximately $3,800,000 in roads in 2025, the majority from CHIPS funding, and is preparing an additional $3,500,000 for road projects in 2026. Two bridges — Wagner's Hollow Road and Crain's Hollow Road — are in design using Bridge New York funding, with construction anticipated in 2027.
Why it matters: investments in emergency services, communications accreditation and road repairs affect everyday safety and mobility for residents and shape capital planning priorities for the county.
What's next: the County Executive said design work will continue for bridge projects and that road project planning and funding preparations for 2026 are underway.
