Haralson County commissioners voted to table a proposal that would ask voters whether the county should create a county manager position.
A member of the public asked, “Where is the description of the job? … Is it going to be posted before the vote?” The chair replied that the county’s authority to send the question to voters is in the Haralson County ordinances and that the full job description will be published before any vote. A county staff member said the item is being tabled because “all the details haven't been worked out yet” and the document will be available to the public prior to an election.
The board did not vote on creating the position at the meeting. Instead, a motion to table the matter carried, leaving the timeline and language of a prospective ballot question to be completed and published before the board advances the proposal to voters.
What happens next: commissioners and staff indicated the job description and related details will be finalized and made available to the public before the item returns for approval and, if advanced, placement on a future ballot.
