The Fountain Hills Unified School Board voted to post a vacancy for superintendent and set a target application receipt date of March 5, with subcommittees and a rubric to screen candidates.
Board President (speaker 2) moved to approve the job description and to post the position; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The board discussed timeline options and agreed that applications will be accepted through March 5 and that subcommittees will use a proposed screening rubric and a “best fit” form as evaluation tools.
Trustees expanded an earlier plan for three screening subcommittees to four groups representing staff, students, parents and community members, and discussed limiting membership to seven representatives per subcommittee. The board asked principals and committee leaders to pare nominations where necessary and tabled final committee membership to a subsequent meeting for formal approval.
Members also discussed logistics for interviews and open‑meetings requirements, including whether initial screening meetings should be public or held in executive session; administration and the board agreed to follow legal advice and to schedule special sessions for interviews if necessary.
Next steps: administration will post the job, accept applications through March 5, circulate the rubric and convene subcommittees to submit screening feedback before the board schedules candidate interviews.
