Knoxville City Council approved a series of routine items including board reappointments, a board confirmation, infrastructure contracts and small grants.
Resolutions approved in voice votes included: reappointing Ellen Lee and George Anna Yarbrough to the Knox County Board of Equalization; confirming Angela Dennis to the board of Community Television of Knoxville (now Knoxville Community Media); authorizing up to $23,950 in youth violence prevention microgrants to eight organizations; a CDM Smith contract of up to $419,400 for East Greenway Drive bridge replacement consulting; a Rogers Group contract not to exceed $5,020,000 for 2026 resurfacing (phase 1); an amendment increasing Whaley Construction LLC’s sidewalk contract by $62,685.60 to a total not to exceed $1,055,180.60 and extending completion to Feb. 28, 2026; and a Goodwill Industries lease for the city’s four recycling drop-off centers for $50,000 annually.
Council members noted the contracts and microgrants were standard business and moved quickly after introductions and brief staff remarks. The mayor invited further discussion of grant processes and scheduled follow-up workshops at the request of council members.
