The County and Municipal Government Committee gave House Bill 268 a favorable report after a brief presentation by Representative Reed Ingram.
Representative Reed Ingram told the committee the bill is "a simple bill" that has been vetted by county commissions and the 9-1-1 board and is intended to add oversight and accountability. Committee members asked no substantive questions during the presentation.
Senator Chandler moved and Senator Hovey seconded the motion to report the bill favorably. During the long-roll call several senators responded "Aye" and Senator Coleman Madison registered an abstention; the chair confirmed the abstention and the bill received a favorable report from the committee.
The committee did not record additional debate or amendments on the measure at this meeting. The committee packet included a handout summarizing the bill and its purposes.
