The Waynesboro Planning Commission on Feb. 17 moved to retable consideration of a zoning map amendment requested by Wells Land Development LLC after staff told the commission the applicant had requested additional time to revise the submission.
Staff informed the commission the applicant asked for extra time and that the matter would not be taken up substantively that day. "We have heard from staff that the applicant has requested additional time to revise his submission," said Speaker 2. In response, Speaker 1 moved to take the item off the table and then immediately moved to table it again to the March regular planning commission meeting; Speaker 1 provided the second for both motions as recorded in the meeting transcript.
Speaker 3, identified in the record as a staff member, summarized staff's back-and-forth with the applicant and invited commissioners or members of the public to share additional concerns. "Staff has kind of summarized those concerns with him additionally and there's some back and forth there in working on those," Speaker 3 said.
Commissioners and staff clarified that the item will be taken up again at the March regular meeting with a revised application or amendment from the applicant. Speaker 2 said the commission "does not anticipate having a public hearing at that meeting at this time," but both Speaker 2 and Speaker 3 noted a public hearing remains possible depending on the final submission and would be advertised if scheduled.
The motions to take the matter off the table and to retable it to March were announced as passing by voice vote; the transcript records 'Aye' responses by individual speakers but does not record a full roll-call tally. Notes attached to the meeting record indicate the matter will return to the commission in March for further consideration and possible hearing depending on the applicant's revised submission.
Next steps: staff will continue correspondence with Wells Land Development LLC and the commission will take up the revised submission at the March regular meeting. Any public hearing date will be advertised in accordance with standard notice procedures.
