Council approves plat amendment to combine two lots in Reserve of Midway Phase 2

The Midway City Council approved a plat amendment to combine Lots 14 and 15 in The Reserve of Midway Phase 2.

City planning staff explained the application from applicant Derek Kohler and said the change would remove the common lot line and reduce density by one home. The amendment does not affect public street rights-of-way; staff noted public-utility easements (PUEs) are commonly vacated through this process if necessary but clarified the applicant would need to coordinate any relocation with utilities.

The council opened the statutorily required public hearing, heard no in-person objections and discussed findings. Council removed a staff finding that "the area will feel more open" because future accessory uses were possible, and it included language clarifying easement obligations and the one-year approval with possible extensions. The motion to approve passed unanimously.
