Votes at a glance: Board approves minutes, budget amendments, contract procedural waiver and travel requests

The Alleghany County Board recorded the following formal actions and vote outcomes at its Feb. 16 meeting (all votes listed below were approved by the board unless noted):

- License plate agency closure for July 13–17 (state-allowed vacation closure for small offices): motion approved.

- Dates set for the 2026 Board of Equalization and Review hearings: Tuesday, April 7 and Thursday, April 9 at 6:00 p.m. — motion approved.

- Travel approval for mapping technician and staff to attend pictometry/aerial training in Louisville, Kentucky using vendor-provided tickets (no county cost beyond incidental meals) — motion approved.

- Motion to enter closed session under General Statute 143-318.11 for personnel matters; motion seconded and the board recessed to closed session.

Several items noted in staff reports were informational only and were not the subject of final board action at this meeting. For items moved to future meetings (for example, the school district request to waive a $1,600 monthly commercial weight fee), the board scheduled follow-up consideration.
