At its Feb. 17 meeting the Houston County Commission approved a slate of routine resolutions and appropriations, including grants and reallocations across multiple departments.
Highlights: Resolution 67 reallocated $8,000 to highway overtime; Resolution 68 approved a volunteer firefighter equipment and training grant (staff referenced $38,000); Resolution 69 approved a local health department capital investment grant amendment; Resolution 70 approved the FY26 litter grant; Resolution 71 approved BFW engineering aviation consultant services; Resolution 72 accepted and appropriated a $10,000 donation to the fire department; Resolution 73 reallocated $5,000 for a school mental-health pilot program; Resolution 74 reallocated $4,000 for early literacy tutoring; and Resolution 75 approved a community connectivity facilities amendment. Resolution 76 authorized $22,798 for workers' compensation insurance and passed after a roll-call vote.
Most items were moved, seconded and approved by voice or roll-call with little extended debate. Staff and commissioners offered brief remarks of thanks to donors and grant administrators. Several items referenced ongoing intergovernmental work and routine appropriations tied to FY26 budgets.
