The Trail Creek Town Council on Feb. 17 confirmed nominations to fill seats on the town’s planning commission and Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA), citing a need to meet statutory membership and political‑balance requirements before upcoming development reviews.
Council members named the three council appointees to the planning commission (the three council members themselves) and recommended that Warren, the town president, appoint Mike Moldenhauer, Pavel Novak and Steve Thomas as additional plan‑commission members. For the BZA, council recommended Tom Levandowski and Wayne Brantley as citizen members and discussed that citizen appointments carry no political‑party restrictions.
Town counsel and advisors emphasized the plan commission’s role in updating the comprehensive plan, changing zoning districts and handling development review, while the BZA handles zoning appeals and permit disputes. Members noted one remaining planning‑commission seat must be filled by a Democrat or an independent (not a Republican) to meet the town’s political‑balance rules, and left that seat open pending recruitment.
A motion to appoint the council’s three members to the planning commission was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The council directed the president to make his appointments and staff to follow up on outstanding citizen nominations.
